Thank You, 73, Keith

Sure I would be interested in 1 of these Let Me Know Count me in &litary look we find so prevalent today.

Come to think of it, the Drake TR-7 series looked a lot more like hi-fi equipment than ham radios, too.

One thing that would be really nice is the front panel of these computer controlled radios could broken up into three or four basic groups and rearranged to suite the operators needs, left handed people have different needs than right handed people. it must be even a little awkward for a left handed person to use a Yaesu 897 or an IC-706 with the main tuning knob on the right side. This kind of customization could be done with modern radios since all the controls are digital in nature to begin with.

TenTec, in the days of the Triton IV and the original QRP rigs made rigs with beige painted cases, and mock wooden endpieces, and they were probably the best effort to get away from the military look we find so prevalent today.

When I had my 7 line stuff set up, everyone who saw it said the same thing.

Those were really cheesey looking rigs, Im glad they stopped doing that.

I have complained about this before.

How come they cant make a good looking set now days ?

Darn they wont let me make the rules :)

Sue, I actually agree. Remember the Swedish Stereos that were made back then? Baung-Olufson or something like that. Man, they had styling that couldnt end. I believe a Ham Radio manucturer tried something like that, but never reached near that level of design. Maybe it was B&O themselves, who produced a SWL general coverage receiver.

We really have to get away from the cheesy black plastic look. Something that looks more stylish with a little color and some ergonomics, Im tired of reaching in front of the display in order to make basic adjustments. when my 756 sits on the desk.
